I suggest putting myself first for once and I'm a traitor.

I don't know where he is.

Maybe he's with Andy

Lord Mandelson: Plottingtherealpm on March 23rd, 2011 11:53 pm (UTC)
Would you like me to have a word with him, Yvette?
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 12:13 am (UTC)
I'll be accused of recruiting his enemies to do my dirty conspiratorial work.

Better not.
Lord Mandelson: I don't think sotherealpm on March 24th, 2011 12:14 am (UTC)
As you wish, let me know if you change your mind.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 12:16 am (UTC)
Thanks anyway, Peter.

Phone call to Yvette Cooper
...Hello?
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 08:53 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Hello. Oh, hi Ed.
Ed Balls MP: resonable manontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 09:01 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Sorry I - I stormed out last night.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:10 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Where are you?
Ed Balls MP: resonable manontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 09:14 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Still at Portcullis. I was going to get the camp bed out if I hadn't worked up the courage to call you. I wasn't going to get a hotel just in case The Sun got a hold of it and started wetting their knickers.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:18 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Well, you're free to come home if you want.

It's not like I threw you out.
Ed Balls MP: resonable manontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 09:21 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
I know. I decided to walk. Just, I -

No, fuck off. I don't care.

Sorry, 'Vette, fucking SpAds. I just... why didn't you tell me about Tea Boy's offer?
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:33 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
He didn't directly offer it to me as I would have explained if you hadn't stormed out.

Ed called me to congratulate me the day after the results came out. I thought, because of what the newspapers and everyone were saying, that he might offer me something. So I said I didn't want anything higher than shadow foreign or home. He said he understood.

And that was it.

Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Oh.

*Shuffles paper*

He would have offered it to you. Why - why didn't you want it?
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:40 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
He might not have.

Besides, shadow chancellor is more work than I wanted right now. And I knew you wanted it.
Ed Balls MP: resonable manontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 09:42 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
*Sigh*

I don't want you to delay your career because of me, 'Vette.
Yvette: hey yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:51 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Yeah? Then why does wanting to run for the next job make me a - a conspirer, against you?
Ed Balls MP: you godfuck itontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 09:54 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Because you didn't tell me! Jesus, 'Vette, what were you going to do? Spring it on me when the next Leadership contest rolled around?

If you - if you wanted to be Shadow Chancellor or even fuck it leader then... fuck, I'm your husband, I want to know this about you.
Yvette: conference yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 09:59 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
I thought you knew! You were so wrapped up in your own ambitions, you didn't stop to think that I might have my own.

You know what, run again next time. Run for every election you want. I don't care.

Just don't ever, ever accuse me of plotting against you.
Ed Balls MP: Oh shi-ontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 10:03 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
*Silence*

'Vette, I don't want to run again.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 10:07 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Yes, you do.
Ed Balls MP: Oh shi-ontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 10:12 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
No, I don't.

I'm - I'm not stupid, alright? I know I'm a liability. Sure, it's cunts that've made me a liability - wrongly. But you're... people like you, 'Vette. You've got that ridiculously high approval rating and you're not mocked as a deficit denier.

Hell, I can google your name and not want to stab my eyes out.

If you want to run, I'll back you. I'd r-rather have you in Number 10 then anyone else. I'm not lying.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 10:23 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
That's now. Our whole party is being labelled as deficit deniers. Including me.

Things will change. If we get this right, people will see that you could be a great chancellor. Your approval ratings will go up. We don't know what will happen.

It's good to know you don't look at me and want to 'stab your eyes out'...
Ed Balls MP: resonable manontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 10:27 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
*Laughs*

You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, 'Vette. That'll never change.

*Pauses*

Look, all I want to know is that you'll tell me what's worrying you. If you want to be the Shadow Chancellor, tell me. If you want to be the next Prime Minister then tell me that too. Let's just not do a Miliband and end up hating each other 'cause our job paths are similar.
Yvette: srs yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 10:31 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
I'd never hate you. I'd rather give up my career than lose you.

We'll work through this.
Ed Balls MP: Oh shi-ontheballscity on March 24th, 2011 10:35 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Our marriage has to be stronger than politics. Fuck, if Sally can stick with John then surely we'll be alright?

I love you. I'll come home. I'm sorry. Oh, and I love you, did I say that?
Yvettecoopertrooper on March 24th, 2011 10:43 pm (UTC)
Re: Phone call to Yvette Cooper
Of course we'll be alright.

I love you too. I'll see you soon.
